Okorocha’s N4m Largesse Sparks Off Students On Rampage In Owerri

Thousands of Students from higher Institutions operating in Imo State yesterday went on rampage destroying street lights along Bank Road, Owerri, the State Capital.

The Students who had converged at the Imo international conference centre (IICC) as early as 8am to adopt Governor Rochas Okorocha as their sole candidate for February 28 polls turned round to smash windows of the IICC venue of the rally.

Trouble was said to have started about 6pm when they alleged that the sum of N4 Million released to them by the governor has disappeared into tin air through one of the governor’s aides.

Disturbed by the development, the aggrieved students went to the streets destroying every government property on their sight. The rampaging students were rebuffed from entering into Government House by armed Security agencies at the gates. They were chanting PDP we know! PDP we know APC, Owelle na 419.

Our source reports that a combined team of armed security men including army and police were quickly drafted and deployed to every entrance leading to the Government House as well as all strategy positions at the State Capital. Meanwhile, campaign vehicles with APC inscription were reportedly withdrawn from the road.
