MEND reaffirms support for Buhari

Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has scolded the Ijaw Youth Council, the Peoples Democratic Party and other ex-militants in the Niger Delta region, according to our source.

Mend also reaffirmed their support for the candidature of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari.

The militant group issued a release last week, describing ”the statement credited to Peoples Democratic Party spokesperson, Olisa Metuh, as “callous and irresponsible”.

MEND’s spokesperson, “Jomo Gbomo”, denied any links between MEND and APC as alleged by Olisa Metuh. The group also attacked the leadership of the IYC for describing MEND as a “ghost”.

MEND challenged the IYC ”to use their idle time in telling and showing Nigerians and Niger Deltans what the government of Goodluck Jonathan has done or achieved in Nigeria and the region in the last six years in office, apart from giving them handouts called “Monthly Stipends”.

It would be recalled that on January 6, 2015, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) surprisingly pledged its full support to the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) candidate Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).
