Kaduna State Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress yesterday told Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stay off the homes of its members.
The APC also cautioned the governor against wasting public resources and using religion as a tool of political persuasion.
The spokesperson of Malam Nasir El-Rufai APC Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, conveyed the council’s position in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna.
Yero had early this week visited the homes of some APC chieftains in their absence, a visit considered to be a breach of their privacy and an attempt to drag their families into partisan politics.
According to the statement, the governor’s action exposed his fears over the massive acceptability of APC in the state and the imminent defeat awaiting the PDP.
“The member representing Igabi West Constituency in Kaduna State House of Assembly and our member, Hon. Yusuf Zailani reported that Governor Mukhtar Yero visited his home without his consent and met some members of his family. Another chieftain reported same case. In the course of these visits, the governor attempted to induce their families and associates with unsolicited cash gifts. There is no reason that warrants the governor to trespass into other people’s homes. It is a breach of family privacy and the concerned members will be seeking appropriate redress.
“The visit is in bad taste. Yero should keep his politics of blackmail and deceit to his own circle. We are by this notice advicing the governor to stay off our homes and not drag our families into his political frustration. Yero’s action is an act of hypocrisy. A man who has been masterminding brutal and ferocious attacks against our members and trying to taint us as troublemakers cannot now drag our families into politics and plead for support.
“Only two weeks ago, Yero denied our leader, General Muhammadu Buhari access to Murtala Square for the APC North-West zonal rally. He also maligned APC supporters as a rented and misguided crowd. Yero is the power-obsessed person who also threatened to bar Malam Nasir El Rufai from entering Kaduna and to demolish his house as well. We are wondering what he now wants from Buhari’s followers to the extent of appearing uninvited at their homes. We are telling the world to know should anything happen to our members.”APC said.
But, governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero/Bajoga campaign organisation through the Chairman Media and Publicity, Yakubu Lere said the governor’s visit to APC chieftains was to cement peaceful co-existence ahead of the polls.
