El-Rufai Receives 435 Decampees From PDP

The Kaduna State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai penultimate tuesday received 435 decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the APC in the hometown of the former governor of the state, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi.

Senator Makarfi who is a two-time governor of the state is presently the senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial zone.

El-Rufai who launched his campaign in Makarfi town, headquarters of Makarfi local government area, was met by a mammoth crowd as he was driven to the Makarfi Township stadium, venue of the event. While receiving the PDP decampees, the APC governorship candidate said, “We are delighted with this development. We came here to launch our campaign. Suddenly we received this good news. It is an indication that light will always overwhelm darkness. These people left PDP on their own because it is an anti-people’s party; it has nothing to offer.

“Our people should not allow deceivers to deceive them anymore. We are backward in all ramifications. Our health sector has collapsed. Our education has decayed; there is confusion everywhere. Our people must wake up and face reality. Election is no war. It is not a do or die affair. It is a competition, and we are seeking for this power from the Almighty God and the people of Kaduna State. We will not relent in our determination. We have nothing to hide other than to protect our people from the evil that is happening all over the place.

“Our major focus is to change our situation from what it is today to what will make things better for our communities. Don’t allow anybody to deceive you in the name of religion, in the name of ethnicity. We are all indigenes of Kaduna State. We must respect ourselves. When you look at Kaduna State of yesteryears, it is different from Kaduna State of today. Posterity will hold us accountable, and so we must stand up and recreate Kaduna and rebuild Kaduna State again.”

The former chairman of PDP in Makarfi Local Government, Alhaji Salisu Wada Gubuchi, who led the decampees said “we want to tell the whole world today that we have left PDP for APC and there is no going back. We can no longer stay in slavery and deprivation. We can no longer dwell in deceit and falsehood. There is a limit to slavery and today we declare our freedom.”

The former Director-General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Salisu Makarfi, who also made remarks at the occasion said there was a need for people of the state to know that they were living in bondage and with the candidature of Mallam El-Rufai Kaduna State would bounce back and flourish in cogent development and purposeful leadership that had eluded the state since 2007.

In his remarks, the former chairman of PDP in Kaduna State, Alhaji Audi Yaro Makama, who joined APC in December 2013 dismissed speculations that he is going back to the PDP, saying “I remain in APC and there is nothing that will take me back to PDP again. I ran away from PDP because it is a killer party, and how can I go back to where my life is not safe? So whoever says to you that I am going back to PDP is trying to deceive you. So from top to bottom, let’s vote out PDP and put APC on leadership.”
